Immersive Experience Development

As an undergraduate journalism student, Brittany made a creative pitch to the Yale Daily News: she wanted to spend a night working at a haunted house attraction and write a gonzo-style piece about her experience. She had so much fun that she embarked on a years-long stint as a scare actor, performing seasonally for companies such as Thirteenth Floor Entertainment. All the while, she continued to cover the world of immersive entertainment as a journalist, reviewing attractions and theatrical productions such as Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights, Artemis Is Burning’s Death of Rasputin, and Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More for publications such as the Los Angeles Review of Books.

As Brittany’s excitement about themed entertainment increased, she became interested in getting involved behind the scenes. In 2026, she was named an Immersive Design Academy Fellow with a specialization in Show Writing; she spent eleven months working with a multidisciplinary team of young professionals to develop a realistic theme park land complete with attractions, dining destinations, and live performances. Brittany’s work from this program is currently protected under a nondisclosure agreement, but you can contact her or check back here after November 23 to take a look.
